Similarly, poker tournaments and other, related events would get more coverage thanks to this new service.

So, what does Yahoo say about their innovative application? In his statement on Yahoo’s website, ArjunSethi, the Senior Director of Product Management wrote the following: “Connecting with your friends should be spontaneous, convenient and memorable – but also fleeting, just like a real-life conversation.[…]Yahoo Livetext – a new way to communicate that blends the immediacy, simplicity and ease of texting with the expressiveness of video, without the audio. We see video as a way to make your conversations more authentic, and we see text as a way to connect that’s quick and non-intrusive.”  There you have it – a something new in the digital era of communication. But not only is Yahoo Livetext a more precise way to convey information; it’ll also boost social gaming and gambling, because it simplifies the sharing of even a simple experience. Doesn’t it sound better to get a text-video with your friend’s happy face playing some cards at a beautiful casino, than just a text saying “At casino, playing cards. Having the time of my life.”? Not awfully enthusiastic, is it? Yahoo is on the right track. Now, all they have to do is advertise it properly. |
